This was because the Philco company was able to prevent Philips from using their name on any product due to the similar sound of their names. This was a legal issue until the mid-1970’s when Philips bought the Magnavox Company. However, they continued to use the Norelco name on their products.
Eventually, Philips purchased Philco in the 1980’s and was able to retail the Philips name. The Philips-Norelco brand name was introduced around mid-2000. Despite the battles over the brand name listed on their products, Philips began producing their well known Norelco Electric Razors in 1939. However, these products were not available in the U.S. until 1948 due to World War II.
Norelco went on to introduce a variety of well-liked electric razors that American consumers could not get enough of. Some products include a two-headed razor, a Bodygroom men’s body hair shaver, and much more. The company’s continued success through the years serves as proof that they create high-quality shaving products that are worthy investments.
